Criminal Justice Minor

A Criminal Justice minor is a great option for students looking to complement their major with foundational knowledge in criminology and criminal justice. This minor requires students to complete at least 18 credit hours in CRJU-designated coursework, starting with CRJU 0101 - Introduction to Criminal Justice. This essential course serves as a prerequisite for all 200-level and higher criminal justice classes and is one of only two introductory courses offered by the department.

In addition to gaining a solid understanding of the criminal justice system, students will explore topics such as criminal behavior, law enforcement, and the legal process. This minor not only enriches academic credentials but also enhances critical thinking and analytical skills, preparing students for various career paths in the field. To pursue a minor in Criminal Justice, students must declare their intention and meet with an advisor before enrolling in a third CRJU course that will contribute to their minor requirements. This ensures a well-structured educational experience and guidance throughout their studies.

We host the largest Criminal Justice Career Fair in New England right on our campus, attracting top employers from various sectors. This event provides students with valuable networking opportunities, allowing them to connect directly with potential employers and learn about available positions. In conjunction with the career fair, we organize recruitment events within our department throughout the year, featuring workshops, guest speakers, and panel discussions. These events further ensure that students stay informed about job openings and internships, equipping them with the resources and connections needed to launch successful careers in the criminal justice field.
